July 1, 2014

So it turns out we were lucky last night.  With Nathan gone, I often say bad things happen (dogs vomit, ceilings crack, etc.) but last night a bad storm came through the Quad Cities and we did not lose power!  Mike and Alex were over, and Mike helped me set up the generator just in case (thanks Mike!)  He also comforted Lily who was losing it without her Papa.  But Lily and I settled down to watch the rest of a Harry Potter movie with our flashlights, and the power stayed on.  Thank goodness!

Today my high of the day was talking to Noah.  I had the longest phone conversation with him to date:  40 minutes.  He is having a wonderful time at his STEM conference.  His two roommates are from Texas.  He has met kids who are fluent in 3 languages.  The only other “jocks” play tennis or golf.  He complained that the first day wasn’t very organized but things have gotten more organized since then.  He is in a group with 17 kids and 4 of them don’t take things very seriously.  Noah gave a presentation on vaccines and argued in favor of vaccinations.  That’s my boy!

Nathan got to have lunch with Noah today, and he took this picture:

  1. Dad and I spent the day in Wichita. We left home at 11:oo, right after my physical with Dr. Williams. I feel we bonded today.I complimented him on his new glasses. He wondered how I knew he had new glasses. I make it my business to notice glasses. It makes for a good conversation. Next time I will talk to him about my dietitian daughter.
I am so happy you & Noah had a good & lengthy phone conversation. How is Nathan doing? I am so glad you &Lily survived the storm, had Mike help & kept your power on. When do you pick up Nate & Noah?
    Love you,
    Mama xoxo
